A guide to saving money on bulk AdBlue® in 5 easy steps

Buying bulk AdBlue® for the first time can be a bit daunting especially if you are used to buying small bottles from the garage. Here at WavianBlue we try and make the process of buying bulk AdBlue® as painless as possible. To help we’ve put this guide together to help.

Step 1 – How much AdBlue® do you need?

Our two key products are the 210 litre drum or a 1000 Litre IBC. Look at how many of your vehicles are using AdBlue® and then work out a rough estimate of mileage per year. Obviously different vehicles use different amounts of AdBlue®, but the average use of AdBlue® vs diesel for trucks is 4 to 8% of diesel. So for every 1000 Litres of diesel you will need approx 4-8 litres of AdBlue®.

Please bear in mind that AdBlue® has a shelf life of over a year, so while a 210 litre AdBlue® drum works out cheaper in the short term an IBC will be a much lower effective cost per litre. Currently our price (Feb 2021) is 30p ex vat per litre for an IBC (100 Litres). That price also includes mainland UK delivery and no deposit fees for the IBC.

Step 2 – How do you want to order your AdBlue®?

We’ve set up our website to be as easy to order though as possible. All the information we need from you is taken at checkout and once we have your order you can sit back and let us get on with it. Of course some people prefer the convenience of calling or emailing an order through and settling up with us at the end of the month.

If you may wish to set up a business account with us. We just ask that you pay for the first order upfront and fill in our account application form. If there are no problems we can get you set up quickly and easily.

Step 3 – Do you need an AdBlue® Starter Kit?

If you are buying your first IBC or 210 Litre AdBlue® drum you will need some method of getting the AdBlue® out of the container and into your vehicle. Many of our new customers choose to purchase an AdBlue® Starter Kit. These are either a 210 Litre drum or IBC together with some kind of pump. We offer a range of starter kits, our most popular is our Gravity hose Starter kit comprising of a basic hose and a nozzle attached. On the other end of the scale is an electric powered AdBlue® pump with automatic nozzle and all the trimmings.

Step 4 – Do you have access to a fork lift truck?

Our delivery company doesn’t have the facility to take a fork lift with them on deliveries, so for all IBC orders we will need you to have access to a fork lift for when we deliver the IBC (they are 1000kgs, so won’t be able to lift it down without one). Many of our customers who don’t own a fork lift ask a nearby business to borrow one for ten minutes and we can coordinate with you as to when we will deliver to make things easy.
